Julie and Nick are a highly professional, dynamic teaching duo with over 35 years of experience. They are proud to host and present bespoke Flute, Clarinet and Saxophone Courses for all levels of Adult and Student Players.
The courses are small, friendly and numbers vary from 3 to 12 depending on the venue. We never mix Student groups with Adults. For Adults, there is no upper age limit as we feel you are never too old to learn! Schedules run from 9.30 until 19.30, with a break after lunch, but feel free to dip in and out as you wish.
We pride ourselves on presenting delicious home catering with creative menus from around the world. Nick and Julie share all of the shopping, preparation and cooking and special diets included where possible. Meal times are a time to relax, chat, consolidate ideas and are a highlight of the courses
We choose our venues for their character and unique qualities – a Tudor Manor, a converted Arkwright Mill, a luxury Oxfordshire farmhouse, an old Italian Monastery and a shabby chic English country manor. We offer single, twin or double accommodation and many rooms have ensuite facilities. Partners are welcome.
We offer Flute Courses for Flute Teachers, Amateur Adult Flute Players and Flute Students. Courses have different playing levels from Beginner through to Advanced, but all are friendly, non competitive and inclusive. Piccolo, C flute, Alto and Bass players are welcome and we have a unique library of over 300 arrangements with parts to suit your experience. The courses are either 1 : 1 or workshop and coached ensemble based in structure. All are kept small in number for maximum attention.
Clarinet Courses are designed with either intensive 1 : 1 schedules or workshop style ensemble tuition – all under Nick’s expert teaching. All players are welcome from beginner to advanced and on Bass Clarinet, too. Orchestral Repertoire tuition sessions are included for those who play in amateur orchestras.
Our saxophone courses are for those who enjoy high quality tuition and wish to improve their playing, reading and technique. They are not jazz or improvisation courses. Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Baritone players are welcome and the sessions are either 1 : 1 or ensemble based – all under Nick’s watchful eye!
Teachers need to play and relax with like minded others! We offer various playing courses in the year with exactly this in mind and where the coached ensemble standard is satisfyingly high.
Professional Development – Many teachers or intending teachers have to teach a second or third instrument and many of our courses offer the opportunity for the basic acquisition of skills, tips and techniques.
Students enjoy working and practising together and we guarantee a year’s worth of improvement in just a few days. The courses are small, friendly and fully supervised. Ages 7 – 17.
