The Trevor Wye Flute Course is for Advanced Players, Conservatoire Students and Teachers  of diploma standard and above, with everyone benefitting from the chance to play to Trevor Wye and work with him on daily exercises, intonation, breathing, studies, orchestral extracts, solo repertoire, musicality and style. We offer a minimum of 6.5 hours tuition each day with ensemble coaching and the opportunity to play with Anne, our pianist.

 The desire to focus on all aspects of flute playing, learn in-depth, work with a professional teacher, hear others perform, enjoy ensemble playing and to improve quickly are important.

Browse an entire library of books and sheet music and share Trevor’s memoirs of  some of the world’s greatest flute teachers and flute players.

The Studio is situated in a beautiful rural cottage overlooking the Downs and Trevor’s collections of music and flutes is unrivalled throughout the world. You will have the chance to browse and share this slice of Flute History. 

Travel by high-speed train from London to Ashford, Kent and take a local train on to Wye station with regular connections where we will meet you at 17.30 on Saturday 18th August

Travel by medium speed train from London to Ashford which stops at Wye.

Arrive at any major London airport and we can advise a train route.

Choose anything from the usual, common repertoire, such as Bach, Blavet, CPE Bach, Berkely, Mozart, Doppler, Debussy, Faure, Godard, Honegger, Ibert, Dutilleux, Messiaen, Enesco, Prokofiev, Gluck, Widor, Schubert, Reinecke…etc, etc. both solo and flute and piano.

  • Group accommodation, near to Hastingleigh church and 0.8 miles from Trevor’s studio
  • accommodation in converted stables which are now self contained chalet units
  • free wifi in each chalet and at Trevor’s house  (please note that phone signals may be weak)

  • kitchenettes with fridge/kettle and microwave for your early morning teas and late night snacks!
  • rural location – we will drive you to the local Co – op shop, on your arrival,  for any treats or essentials that you may need to stock up on.
  • local B and B accommodation also available 2 minutes walk from Trevor’s house

Juliet Edwards

Juliet Edwards’ engagements take her around the world and she is a regular performer at concert series and festivals throughout the UK. She has performed with many distinguished soloists and ensembles including Paul Archibald, Emma Bell, William Bennett, David Campbell, Philippa Davies, Crispian Steele-Perkins, Robert Tear, Stephen Varcoe, Trevor Wye and the Schidlof Quartet. Juliet has appeared at most of London’s major venues including Wigmore Hall, the Queen Elizabeth Hall and LSO St Lukes. She is a staff accompanist at the Royal Academy of Music, the Royal College of Music and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and she also works for many other musical organisations including the London Symphony Orchestra. 

Juliet often workswith flautists. She is a regular visitor to Trevor Wye’s studio, where she takes classes, coaching students on duo repertoire. She is also a longtime accompanist for William Bennett’s masterclasses at the Royal Academy of Music and was an official accompanist at the most recent British Flute Society Competition. 

She performs and coaches at festivals and summer schools including many seasons at Dartington International Summer School, where she has worked with composers including Sir Peter Maxwell Davies, Oliver Knussen and Detlev Glanert.

Recordings include Joie de Vivre, French trumpet and piano repertoire for the Brass Classics label, and Sir Peter Maxwell Davies’ virtuosic Trumpet Sonata for the composer’s own MaxOpus label, both with Paul Archibald, and Alan Hovhaness’ concerto Khaldis with the International Celebrity Trumpet Ensemble on Brass Classics. Juliet has produced a number of recordings, working with artists including Members of the Royal Opera Chorus and Orchestra of the Royal Opera House and composers including Mark-Anthony Turnage, Cecilia McDowall and Jim Parker. 

Juliet coaches chamber music and teaches piano at the Royal College of Music Junior Department and at Alleyn’s School. She is also an ABRSM grade examiner, travelling several times a year to China and Hong Kong. Forthcoming engagements include an appearance in recital with cellist Natalie Clein.
